I’m Aad (66) and the senior of the team. Well, somebody’s got to be it. As far as motorbikes go, I’m a relative newcomer. I have my drivers license since 1963, but it was only 2000 when I finally added the motorcycle to the license. Since then I did nearly all my holidays on the motorbike. I had to make up for lost time somehow, you know. Some of the highlights include trips to the UK in 2003 and 2004, with a visit to the Isle of Man TT. Also a trip with Rob in 2008 to the Dolomites was a tremendous experience. Just as the 5-day trip with Jan to Normandy/Britanny. And lots of weekend trips to the Eiffel, Westerwald and Ardennes. And let’s not forget the numerous tours in our own country. All in all, I made a lot of kilometers, approximately 20-25.000 a year.
Since August 2008, I’m the proud owner of a Suzuki V-Strom, DL-650Abs, and I did some 21.000Km on it. It’s my 8th motorbike, all Suzuki’s. The V-Strom is a great bike and very well suited for long trips, so it’s perfect for the trip to Morocco. The Strom is equipped with crashbars, bashplate, hand protectors, heated grips (will come in handy in Morocco) and headlight protection. I still have to mount the radiator protector, and also the topcase. I also have a Quicklock tank bag of max.27L. I still have to buy a couple of sidecases. A couple of weeks before the trip, the Strom will get a full service, including new tires. And then, as far as I’m concerned, the adventure can start…
